Dr. Jeffrey L. Kegarise

Dr. Jeff Kegarise is a graduate of The Ohio State University College of Optometry. He completed his residency at the University of Alabama at Birmingham. Dr. Keg lectures nationally on eye disease and healthcare quality. He has published a chapter on eye medications in The Manual of Primary Eye Care and is part of the faculty for The Institute for HealthCare Improvement in Boston. He is a specialist in secondary care and eye disease management and is one of only four optometrists in Williamson County who is board certified with the American Board of Optometry.  He loves sports, although admits he now coaches more than he plays. His goal is to make a difference by “taking a personal interest in the vision and lives of each of my patients.”


Dr. Susan Kegarise

Dr. Susan Kegarise is a graduate of The Ohio State University College of Optometry. She completed a residency in family practice optometry at the University of Alabama at Birmingham. In addition to being a part of the team at Cool Springs EyeCare, Dr. Susan has owned and managed Donelson EyeCare since 1995. She is one of only four optometrists in Williamson County who is board certified with the American Board of Optometry.

An accomplished mother and eye doctor, she juggles work, home and weekend cheerleading and sports activities for her and Jeff’s three children, Christen, Kevin and Kelli. She enjoys watching all types of sporting events, particularly Ohio State football. Her eye care philosophy is “to treat each patient as you would want to be treated yourself.”


Dr. Melissa Dow

Melissa B. Dow, O.D. is a graduate of the University of Alabama at Birmingham School of Optometry. Ever since growing up in Owensboro, Kentucky, she has planned to be a doctor. She obtained her undergraduate degree in chemistry from Western Kentucky University. She was a recipient of the David J. Kerko Low Vision Award for her training in low vision treatment. In addition, she was selected as a member of the Gold Key International Optometric Honor Society. Dr. Dow has been with Cool Springs EyeCare since 2006.


Dr. Jessica Durham

Jessica Durham, O.D. is an alumni of the University of Tennessee in Knoxville. While in college, she was involved in Chi Omega Fraternity and became a lifelong Volunteer fan. She went on to finish magna cum laude at the Southern College of Optometry in Memphis. She has experience in pediatric vision care and in 2010, she won the GP Award for Contact Lens Clinical Excellence.
 
Dr. Durham is a member of the American Optometric Association, Gold Key Honorary Optometric Society, and Beta Sigma Kappa International Optometric Honor Society. She recently served as a state delegate for the AOA Congressional Advocacy Conference in Washington, DC and completed optometric volunteer mission work in Santa Barbara, Honduras. Locally, she is involved in the Tennessee Association of Optometric Physicians and Lions Club. Dr. Durham lives in Franklin with her husband, Jeremy, who is a small business attorney and a delegate of the Tennessee State House of Representatives.


Dr. Jana Crim

Dr. Jana Crim is a graduate of the University of Alabama at Birmingham School of Optometry. While in optometry school, she was a member of the Beta Sigma Kappa International Optometric Honor Society and was honored with the COVD Award for Excellence in Vision Therapy. She obtained her undergraduate degree in Biology from Samford University, where she graduated cum laude and was an active member of Alpha Delta Pi Sorority.

Dr. Crim heads up our Performance Vision Therapy clinic. She sees children who are struggling with reading and comprehension, difficulty focusing, letter-reversals, poor eye-hand coordination, skipping words/lines when reading and many other visual processing issues. Dr. Crim moved to Franklin with her husband and their three sons in 2012.  Her favorite things to do are to travel, spend time with family and friends, and stay active with her three boys. 


Dr. Helen Boerman

Helen Boerman, O.D., F.A.A.O. graduated from the State University of New York College of Optometry and completed residency training in Refractive Surgery through Indiana University. Prior to joining us, she served as Clinical Manager at Wang Vision Institute for 10 years.
 
She specializes in surgical consultations and post-operative care for laser vision correction, lens replacement and cataract surgery. Dr. Boerman also has expertise in ocular surface disease, specifically dry eye, lid disease, and ocular allergy. She lives in Brentwood with her husband and two daughters.
